SIR assists the Directorate General of Environmental Quality and Evaluation of the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs in preparing the 1st meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to prepare a global legally binding instrument on Mercury (INC1) during the Spanish Presidency. The INC-1 will be held in Stockholm from 7 – 11 June.

The Department of Environmental Consultancy of SIR expands its advisory services and technical assistance with the creation of the energy efficiency division. With this new service we want to provide wider coverage to our clients focused on energy consumption savings and the optimization of resources: energy efficiency studies and development of energy audits and reduction plans.
We have experts accredited as Lead Auditor on UNE EN 16001 by British Standards Institution (BSI) for conducting internal audits in the process of implementing the UNE EN 16 001, (Read more).

SIR has consolidated as a reference company in the domestic market as environmental consultancy in the development of air quality projects: Recently the Department of Environmental Consulting SIR, has completed the Air Emissions Inventory of the Community of Madrid (reference years 2005-2008) in joint venture with LABEIN and the Inventory of Air Emissions of the Balearic Islands (reference year 2007), contract awarded to SIR in 2009.
December 2009:
SIR has been awarded as technical assistance from the General Subdivision of Natural Heritage Inventory and Biodiversity to create a standardized system of information management. This system will allow the CNR-Biodiversity to comply with the obligation to inform the European Commission, Eurostat, JRC, EEA or any national or international organization in the field of protection of biodiversity and the protection of endangered species.
October 2009:
SIR develops different projects for the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) such as the Draft National Plan of Heavy Metals and the Development of Technical Tools, Economic and Financial Issues relating to the Implementation of the Convention Stockholm Convention on POPs. The Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) was established in 1996 at the request of the Contracting Parties of the Barcelona Convention. Since then, it has been part of the Action Plan for the Mediterranean (MAP), a program under the auspices of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). The Centre's mission is to "develop mechanisms to promote sustainable production, consumption and sound management of chemicals in the Mediterranean."
July 2009:
SIR is developing a pioneering project contracted by MGM International (Argentina) to develop a monitoring software for the verification of emission reductions of CDM projects under the Kyoto Protocol.
SIR has experience in developing online learning systems and transmission of know-how. This system will be integrated into an eLearning platform that will manage the support of the application and a series of training components that will guide operators / users of the system in decision making at every moment of use. These systems are treated in eLearning platforms (based on free software) multilingual and personalizing the message that must reach the user (role) of the application.
January 2009:
SIR will design and implement an Environmental Management System under the UNE-EN ISO 14001 integrated within the Quality System in the Air Quality Network of the Extremadura Government (REPICA).
REPICA is a regional network for surveillance and investigation of air quality, designed and maintained by the Extremadura Government (Department of Industry, Energy and Environment) in collaboration with the University of Extremadura (research group AQUIMA, Environmental Chemical Analysis). REPICA is an instrument for the protection of the population and the natural environment of Extremadura against any signs of air pollution that may threaten the quality of air.
Therefore, REPICA wants to advance in their commitment to improving the environmental management to ensure the proper control and management of its activities, in a quality and environmental view, through the implementation of an environmental management system under the UNE-EN ISO 14001 which will provide coverage to all its facilities, operations and services.
