Operation Theory


The particle monitor carries out the measurement through the "scattering" at 90 degrees of a laser beam.


Ambient air, with various sized particles, passes through a flat beam, generated by a laser diode.


The dispersion of the beam produced by the different particles is registered by the detector and converted into electric signals. The degree of dispersion identifies the size of the particles, producing electric impulses of varied amplitudes, then the impulse height analyzer classifies and counts them by particle size.


The internal microprocessor converts these values to mass through a well established formula and adapts the data according to the categories of US-EPA PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.
