| Weather Information System (SIR SIMET) |
| |
|
General Features |
The SIMET communications system enables the management of all the meteorological information associated with a network of automatic stations for the measurement of meteorological parameters.
The advantages of this system are detailed below
|
Meteorological data acquisition software
This system is specially indicated for the acquisition and collection of meteorological data: temperature, pressure, rainfall, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, etc...
|
Modular and flexible architecture
The system architecture is based on a very flexible modular model that permits an easy adaptation to the specific requirements of each customer
|
Independence of the number of measurement points and parameters
The SIMET communications system can manage 1 to 300 meteorological stations and 1 to 50 parameters per tower or automatic measurement point. The maximum number of stations and parameters is given by the characteristics of the associated hardware, allowing the system to expand dynamically. At no time are its robustness, performance or speed features affected by the collection of meteorological data
|
Data storage in databases and/or files
The SIMET system allows storage of data both in text files and databases according to the needs of each system.
|
Latest communications technologies
The SIMET system gathers data from the meteorological stations through all types of communications channel (RDSI, GSM, RTB, RS-232/485). This way the data acquisition is faster and more reliable, lowering the cost of telephone calls
|
Automatic and unattended data collection
The SIMET system allows selection of the call timeframe for the automatic data acquisition. This way the system adapts to the most economical telephone rates.
The communications are carried out without intervention from technical staff, and in case of failure the system itself retries a limited number of times. In case communication is impossible, an alert notifying the fact is activated. All this enables the technicians in charge of the system to forget about the communications and dedicate their efforts towards using the data.
|
Real time data
The system allows the monitoring of the meteorological stations network from a single screen, obtaining a global view of the weather situation of a certain geographical region.
Furthermore, in case any local phenomenon of particular interest occurs (hailstorms, storms, floods), the station can be contacted directly and display a graph that dynamically generates the real time data being gathered in the SCADA devices.
At any time and from any work station, historical or real time data can be requested from the stations without the need for each terminal to have a telephone connection.
|
Alert management
The SIMET system allows reception of alerts when parameter threshold surpassing occurs. These alarms notify the network manager in real time, so that the necessary decisions can be taken.
