Some of the more common components of a meteorology station are the following:
Meteorology Sensors
- Wind speed and direction
- Atmospheric pressure
- Solar radiation (global, net, PAR, UV-B, UV-A, etc)
- Ambient temperature and relative humidity
- Ground temperature and humidity
- Precipitation
- Others...
Meteorological Post or Tower To support the sensors. The
structure can be triangular, pneumatic mast, telescopic tripod, pole on
building roof or wall, self supported structure...)
Electronic Equipment This interacts with the sensors, adapts the signals, stores data corresponding to each parameter, and includes:
- Weatherproof cabinet (for electronic equipment)
- Power system (connected to a network or solar panels)
- Elements of protection against electric fields
- Electric signal conditioning unit
- Data acquisition and storage equipment
- Information transmission system (RS232, RS485, RTB, Radio, GSM, GPRS)
Data Processing This is a computer (laptop or desktop)
which is in charge of collecting the information stored in the data
acquisition equipment and, using the appropriate software, processes
and presents it to the user in the desired format (table, graph, etc)
